Ice hockey originated in Canada in the early 19th century, based on similar stick-and-ball games played in Europe. The word "hockey" comes from the French word "hocquet", meaning "stick".
冰球起源于19世紀初的加拿大，它是從歐洲一種同樣用棍和球進行比賽的非常類似冰球的運動發展而來。Hockey這個詞來自法語單詞“hocquet”，意思是“拐杖”。
The first Olympic ice hockey tournament took place at the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp, Belgium. At the time, organized international ice hockey was still relatively new and the International Ice Hockey Federation considers the 1920 tournament to be the first Ice Hockey World Championship.
